NAKANO, Takao
Professor
Modern and Contemporary Western History

I completed the master course at the Graduate School of the University of Tokyo and completed the doctor course at the Université de Lille 3 (France). I have become a professor at Gakushuin University since 2008, after serving as professor and associate professor at Tokyo Metropolitan University. I specialize in modern and contemporary French history. In recent years, I have been working on the social history of French modern and contemporary cities, focusing on the living space in Paris and its suburbs. I also organize a joint study group and lead it to compare from various perspectives, historical changes of the cities and residences in contemporary Europe, and to carry out international research exchanges of historical studies of urban societies.
