Graduate Course in Japanese Language and Literature

The Graduate Course in Japanese Language and Literature in the Graduate School of Humanities consists of master’s and doctoral courses. Upon completion, students will receive a master’s or doctoral degree in Japanese Language and Literature. Under the guidance of the faculty members of the Department of Japanese Language and Literature, students can deepen their studies in a wide range of fields, including the Japanese language, the teaching of Japanese as a foreign language, Japanese literature, Japanese culture, folklore, and linguistics. We have accepted many students from abroad. There have been students from South Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Indonesia and so on.

Students who have completed the course have diverse paths to take after graduation. Many are engaged in research and education at universities, high schools, and language institutes in and outside of Japan.
