Yuri Yoshino was appointed as associate professor at Gakushuin University in 2014. She received BLitt and MLitt from the University of Tokyo, and PhD from the University of London. Her PhD thesis explores the construction of national identities and gender roles in Maria Edgeworth’s work by applying gender-informed narratology. Her publication covers works by Edgeworth, Jane Austen, Walter Scott, Sydney Owenson, Patricia Burke Brogan, among others. Her principal research focus is to contribute to the revision of literary history by revaluating Romantic-era novels in Britain and Ireland and by interlinking British and Irish critical currents.
