Building a sense of Ethics and Morality

Gakushuin Primary School tries to instill a spirit of “Jicho-Gokei” (self-esteem and respect for others) in its students, through an emphasis on discipline in daily life.
This spirit of respecting oneself while also respecting and considering others was a consistent theme in the teaching of Yoshinari Abe, the 18th chancellor of the school.

To foster a spirit of self-respect and respect for others

  • We encourage students to be considerate, appreciating the kindness received from others, and maintaining an honest and compassionate heart, so that wholesome thoughts are embodied in their words and actions.
  • Through the rearing, cultivation, and observation of animals and plants, we nurture rich feelings in students and enable them to experience the joy of work. And through events, exercise, play, and off-campus educational activities, using the large school grounds, Kinkoen Garden, Aiikuen chicken house, the gymnasium, and the swimming pool, we strive to nurture bold minds and healthy bodies.
  • We are mindful of fostering a desire to take good care of things by promoting simplicity in clothing and personal belongings.
