Professor Thierry MARÈ

mare-1.jpg I teach the history of performing arts theories. My interest is mostly about drama in different ages and places, from ancient Greece to contemporary Europe. I am particularly studying theatrical performance as a combination of language and reality (virtual as it might be). Long ago, before coming to Japan, I became interested in vocalization, sound, rhythm, and recitation by actors from my then position as a playwright and stage director. Based on this experience, I would like to revisit the interrelationship between literature and drama, both involving body through the channel of voice.
