Lecture series at U Tokyo
I will give a series of lectures at U Tokyo. The topics are mainly from magnetism (in the broad sense), but my goal is to illustrate some of the best results in our attempt to understand nontrivial physics in many-body systems. Anybody is welcome (at leas for me).

November 17, December 1, 8 (Mon), from 13:00 till the end (with some intermissions)
1220, Faculty of Science, the University of Tokyo (Hongo campus)
I will discuss such typical many body systems as the Ising model, the Heisenberg model (and its variants) and the Hubbard model, focusing on highly nontrivial physical phenomena including spontaneous symmetry breaking, quantum fluctuation in ground states, and the generation of ferromagnetism.
The plan is that I speak in Japanese and write in English (on the blackboard). Questions/discussions in English are welcome. I will make available in this page a copy of my hand written lecture note AFTER the lectures.

About grading
You are supposed to solve one or two (or more) from the problems that I will present during the class. The problems are not easy. The numbers of problems from each topic are far from uniform.
I will rank the problems according to their "hardness". By solving a single problem completely you will get 40/100 for a usual problem, 60/100 for a problem with a *, 80/100 for a problem with two *.
Please submit your solutions by December 25 (Thursday) to the "report box" next to "physics-kyoumu" office.
Please indicate on the cover the problems you have solved.
