nakano-1.jpg My specialty is cultural studies on representational modes of dramas, especially on those of English Renaissance plays including Shakespeare plays. In my seminar "Cultural Studies on the History of Corporeal Representation", we will discuss diverse stereotyped images of Love, the Poor, the Aged, monsters, jealousy, witches etc. produced in various institutional contexts of societies. I am a member of the International Association of Theatre Critics, the English Literary Society of Japan, and the Shakespeare Society of Japan. My main literary works include "Shakespeare was their Contemporary"(the article series in The Rising Generation, 2007), Love Melancholy in Shakespeare Comedies(2008) and Lines Learnt through the English of Shakespeare(2003).
