Professor ÔNUKI Atsuko

onuki-1.jpg My research is on the formation of corporeal representation and the mechanisms of its cultural and social function, particularly focusing on gender differences. In my course "Practical studies on the cultural history of body representation," I will introduce students to cutting-edge theories in the field, such as the performativity theory, re-examine the process of change in the discourses and images that have shaped corporeal representation in the course of history, and discuss with my students a cross section of the problems in modern society.
