Professor
─Medieval Western History

I specialize in medieval Italian history, especially in the history of Genoa. I am studying Genoa and the Genoese from various aspects, including their network of commercial activities and their personal connections among families and friends in the coastal area of the Mediterranean Sea, the Aegean Sea, the Black Sea, and the Atlantic Ocean, focusing on analyses of notary registries. I am also interested in the history of central and northern Italian cities, especially in the histories of society and women. In class, I teach not only Italian and Mediterranean history but also medieval Western history in various fields.
