─Ancient Japanese History

I specialize in ancient Japanese history (Asuka, Nara, and Heian periods), with a focus on the daily lives of the people and societies of those times. I am interested in studying the way of thinking of the people in those times, which is the background of various incidents and cultural phenomena, in order to have a better understanding of the meaning of those historical incidents and cultural phenomena. In addition, I work on unearthed written documents, which depict the daily activities of people, and make a detailed analysis of one document at a time.
